Peterborough Constable disciplined following impaired driving conviction


On Thursday March 30, 2017 a Police Services Act Tribunal took place at the Holiday Inn to hear the matter of Constable Brock Boynton. Constable Boynton was facing one count of Discreditable Conduct under the Police Services Act Code of Conduct in relation to his conviction for Impaired Driving on January 18, 2017 in Provincial Court.

Constable Boynton pleaded guilty to the misconduct at the tribunal and upon receiving an agreed statement of facts the Hearing Officer issued a disposition as follows:

A reduction of rank from First Class Constable to Second Class Constable for a period of one (1) year commencing on the date of disposition.

After one (1) year, the officer may be reclassified to First Class Constable upon being evaluated as suitable in accordance with the established evaluation process.

Constable Boynton will remain on administrative duties as a contributing member of the Peterborough Police Service pending the reinstatement of his driver’s licence
