An officer from West Division is being credited with saving the life of a baby who was not breathing.
On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at approximately 6:30 a.m., an Ajax mother called 9-1-1 requesting help as her 2-month-old baby was not breathing. The baby boy was in distress and his skin was becoming discoloured. Two DRPS officers happened to be in the immediate vicinity and were dispatched to the scene. The mother handed the infant to one of the officers, who then began performing CPR. His efforts worked and the baby began to cough and cry.
EMS arrived on scene and took over the care of the baby, who is expected to make a full recovery.
