The York Regional Police Homicide Unit have arrested and charged a fifth man that was wanted in a homicide investigation in the City of Markham.
On Monday, November 7, 2016, at approximately 5:40 a.m., York Regional Police responded to a report of a man lying on the side of the road on Old Kennedy Road just north of Steeles Ave. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim was identified as 50-year-old Kong Wu WANG of the City of Toronto. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.
The investigation has revealed that in the early morning hours of November 7, 2016, the accused were waiting for two victims in a parking lot on Midland Avenue north of Finch Avenue in the City of Toronto. The first victim was grabbed by the accused, bound, forced into a vehicle and held against his will. The second victim was shot by the accused and while they were attempting to force him into the same vehicle, the first victim managed to escape and sought help. The suspects fled the area with the victim they had shot, who was later identified as Mr. WANG, and dropped him at the side of the road where he was located.
On Wednesday, April 19, 2017, the fifth suspect was located by police in the City of Toronto and was taken into custody.
Mr. FENG will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket for a bail hearing on Friday, April 20, 2017.
The other men charged in this investigation have been held in custody awaiting their next court appearances.
