(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On Sunday April 16, 2017 at approximately 2:00 a.m. the County of Wellington Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a white Hyundai Santa-Fe on the Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. The driver was operating the vehicle with colour photocopies of Massachusetts State licence plates.

While speaking with the female driver officers formed the opinion that she was under the influence of alcohol and an open liquor beverage was observed next to the driver. A Roadside Screening test was conducted which resulted in a Warning.

Investigation revealed that the driver’s licence was suspended and the vehicle was not insured.

38-year-old Shannon L. DANKERT of Waterloo has been charged with Driving While Suspended, Fail to Display two plates and Fail to Apply for Permit on Becoming Owner contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. She was also charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act and Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Liquor contrary to the Liquor License Act.

She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on May 17, 2017 to answer to the charges.

Drivers are reminded that fines for Suspended Drivers start at $1,000 and fines for owners caught Operating a Vehicle without Insurance on a Highway start at $5,000.
