8-year-old drives 6-year-old sibling to Tim Horton’s for some breakfast

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment investigated a single motor vehicle involving an 8 year-old driver and 6-year-old passenger at a Main Street North, Jarvis, Haldimand County, Ontario address.

On Thursday May 4, 2017 at 6:55 a.m., OPP responded to the Tim Hortons on Main Street North for a single vehicle collision where an employee reported a pickup truck travelled over the curb and into the field. The employee went to check on the occupants and located the two young males in the vehicle. The employee told police the children were not injured.

OPP investigation has determined the 8-year-old male and his 6-year-old sibling took the pickup truck from their residence and travelled to Tim Hortons to get some breakfast when the 8-year-old lost control of the vehicle in the drive thru area, travelled over the curb and into the field where the vehicle became stuck.

Neither was injured and there was no damage to the pickup truck.

No charges were laid in the incident.

The boys were turned over to their parents who attended the scene.
