Innisfil couple caught red handed twice by police in a matter of hours


On Wednesday, May 17, 2017, just before 3:30 p.m. Barrie Police responded to the LCBO, located at 461 Big Bay Point Rd., in the City of Barrie, following reports of a man and woman stealing a large quantity of alcohol. The pair quickly fled the area on foot before police arrived.

Upon arrival, police searched the area and located the couple a block away at the Painswick Public Library. The couple was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released from custody. An estimated $256.00 in stolen alcohol was recovered and returned to the LCBO.

Just before 5:00 p.m. the arresting officer had been completing his report in the Zehrs parking lot, located in the same vicinity as the LCBO and Public Library, when he received a call for a man and woman fleeing from security at Zehrs. The officer observed the pair running across the parking lot, and with the assistance of an off-duty police officer, both suspects were caught and arrested. An estimated $527.00 of meat was recovered by security.

The 27-year-old Innisfil woman has been charged with two counts of Theft Under $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in bail court Thursday morning.

The 44-year-old Innisfil male has been charged with two counts of Theft Under $5,000 and two counts of breach of probation. He is scheduled to appear in bail court on Thursday morning.
