Arva area drowning victim identified as 43-year-old Middlesex Centre man

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – The male in yesterday’s death investigation has been identified as 43 year old Steven MATTHEWS of Middlesex Centre, ON.

Victim Services of Middlesex-London assisted people involved in the drowning. London-Middlesex Paramedics and North Middlesex Volunteer Fire Fighters attended the scene in an attempt to revive the deceased.

A post-mortem has been schedule on today’s date for the deceased.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Around 5:25 p.m. on the 5th of May the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the area of Arva, ON for a male with vital signs absent.

It the course of the investigation it was learned that a lone male was using a jet ski north of Medway Rd in the Arva pond area.

The OPP are strongly reminding the public to keep away from water ways at this time. The waters are still very cold, random debris is more likely, and water levels are at a high level due to the recent rains.

Next of kin notifications are currently being conducted. At this time the death is being treated as non-suspicious in nature.
