Peterborough man charged with possessing and making available child pornography


A 36-year-old Peterborough man has been charged with possessing and making available child pornography after numerous files were seized during a search warrant at his home.

As a result of an ongoing investigation on the morning of May 24, 2017 members of the Peterborough Police Service executed a search warrant at a Benson Avenue residence in Peterborough locating several electronic files of child pornography that had been downloaded.

Subsequently, the accused was arrested at the residence.

Joshua Messier, 36, of Benson Avenue, is charged with the following:

  • Possession of child pornography
  • Imports, distributes, sells or possesses for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography

The accused was held in custody and appeared in court on May 24, 2017.

The Peterborough Police Service is a member of the Provincial Strategy to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation on the Internet. The Strategy has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
