As part of an ongoing commitment to commercial vehicle safety, DRPS partnered with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to conduct a commercial motor vehicle enforcement initiative in Whitby. More than 60 percent of the vehicles inspected were taken off of the road due to safety violations.

On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, members of DRPS and MTO set up an inspection site at the McKinney Centre in Whitby. The team inspected 12 vehicles and took eight of those out of service for safety violations, including improper brakes, insecure dangerous good loads and overweight vehicles. Officers laid 25 charges for various mechanical and document related infractions.
