Peel Region – Investigators from the Major Collision Bureau are seeking the public’s assistance in their investigation into a fatal collision that occurred on Winston Churchill Boulevard near the QEW in Mississauga.
On Sunday, June 25, 2017, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the driver of a silver Mazda 6 was travelling southbound on Winston Churchill Boulevard, crossed the centre median and collided with a silver Mercedes C250 vehicle, which was travelling northbound.
The driver of the Mazda 6, Canville ROBERTS, a 40-year-old male from Mississauga, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes, 24-year-old Camall BROWN-WILLIAMS, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision. A 25-year-old female, Lakeisha EDWARDS-SMITH a passenger in the Mercedes, remains in a Toronto Trauma centre in critical condition.
Two children who were passengers in the Mercedes were transported to the hospital but succumbed to their injuries. The children were a 5-year-old male, Ayon BROWN who was the son of the EDWARDS-SMITH & BROWN-WILLIAMS and a 13-year-old male Keziah EDWARDS-YOUNG who was the brother of passenger Lakeisha EDWARDS-SMITH.
Jynnai HARTLEYa 7-year-old female and goddaughter of Lakeisha EDWARDS-SMITH, also a passenger in the Mercedes, was taken to a Toronto Trauma centre, where she remains in stable condition.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the collision, have dashboard video footage of the incident, or who may have information regarding the actions of the drivers prior to the collision.
