Mississauga, ON (23 June, 2017) —The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the injuries sustained by a 31-year-old man last week in Kitchener.
Preliminary information suggests the following:
- At approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, June 16, 2017, officers with the Waterloo Regional Police Service attempted to stop a man who was walking on Westmount Road West, just south of Karn Street.
- At some point during the arrest, the man sustained an injury and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Three investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to investigate this incident.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 ext. 2038. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
