Two arrested after man tied up and violently beaten behind Pauline Vanier Catholic Elementary School

Region of Peel – Uniform officers along with investigators from the 22 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have arrested and charged two males in a violent assault that has left a 44-year-old Brampton man in hospital with serious injuries.

On Monday, June 27, 2017, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the two accused males, who were known to the victim, confronted him in a dispute over property on Oaklea Boulevard, near Ray Lawson Boulevard, in Brampton.  The victim attempted to run from the men and they chased him to an area behind Pauline Vanier Catholic Elementary School. The men then tied the victim’s hands and proceeded to physically assault him by repeatedly punching him and striking him with a shoe.

Police were called to the area and located the victim behind the school, suffering from serious physical trauma.  He was transported by ambulance to a trauma centre in Toronto, where he remains in critical condition.

Jashan SHARMA, a 19-year-old male from Brampton, and Gurmail SANDHAR, a 46-year-old male from Brampton, were arrested at the scene and have been charged with Aggravated Assault and Forcible Confinement.  They were both held for bail hearings on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
