Two Sault Ste Marie woman charged after allegedly stealing from Batchewana Bay business

(BATCHEWANA, ON) – On June 14, 2017, at approximately 1:15 pm Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police was advised of a shoplifting incident that occurred at a business in Batchewana Bay. A description of the two female suspects and items stolen were observed on video surveillance as well as a description of the vehicle they were driving.

As a result of police investigation 47-year-old Shelley Lynne Murphy of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with:  

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 335(b) Criminal Code (CC)
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334(b)CC
  • Two counts of Fail To Comply with Probation Order 733.1(1)CC

  The accused was released on Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on July 24, 2017.  

Also, 35-year-old Amber-Jean Yukich of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged with:  

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to Section 335(b) CC
  • Theft Under $5000 contrary to Section 334 (b) CC

The accused was released on Promise to Appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on July 24, 2017.
