Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are releasing video and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following a sexual assault that took place in the Town of Georgina.
On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, shortly after 9 p.m., a 39-year-old female was followed by a male suspect while she was walking on Atherton Crescent. The suspect came up from behind the victim and grabbed her in a sexual manner. The suspect fled on foot and removed his hooded sweatshirt while running from the area.
Investigators are seeking any witnesses that may have seen the suspect in the area prior to or following the incident.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police encourages victims to report incidents of sexual assault, including historical offences. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
