Woman on scooter dies after being struck by SUV in Caledonia


(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment is investigating a serious two-vehicle collision that sent one of the involved drivers to the hospital. The collision occurred on Haldibrook Road near Miles Road in Caledonia, Haldimand County, Ontario.

On Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 3:13 p.m., OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County paramedics responded to Haldibrook Road near Miles Road for a two vehicle collision.

OPP investigation, thus far, has determined that a scooter type vehicle was travelling eastbound on Haldibrook Road when it was struck by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) that was also travelling eastbound on Haldibrook Road.

The female driver of the scooter was transported to the hospital by paramedics with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The female’s name is not being released at this time.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI) is assisting with the investigation.

Haldibrook Road remains closed between McClung Road and Tyneside Road while investigators are on scene.
