21-year-old airlifted to Hamilton hospital following accident in Norfolk County

NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a serious motor vehicle collision at a Blueline Road, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, July 8, 2017 at approximately 4:14 p.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services and Paramedics responded to a single motor vehicle collision.

Through the course of the investigation, it was determined that a red Volkswagen motor vehicle being operated by a 21-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was travelling southbound on Blueline Road when the driver entered the northbound lane. The vehicle then left the roadway and entered the east ditch and collided with a tree.

As a result of the collision, the driver suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital by paramedics where he was then air lifted by Ornge air ambulance to a Hamilton hospital for further treatment.

Technical Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

Blueline Road is currently closed between Concession 11 and Concession 12 of Townsend. It is anticipated to be closed for the next two(2) hours to allow for further investigation.

The investigation is continuing.
