(KINMOUNT, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist after an ATV collision on Reid Street near Dutch Line Road in the Municipality of Trent Lakes yesterday afternoon shortly before 4:30 pm.

A 34-year-old male was assisting a 9-year-old with operating an ATV when the two lost control and crashed into a tree. The youth suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision. The adult rider was not wearing proper safety equipment and as a result suffered serious injuries. He was flown by Ornge air ambulance to a Kingston area trauma centre for treatment.

Reid Street was closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
