Accident on Hwy 401 in South Stormont twp claims life of Scarborough woman


(South Stormont) – On July 14, 2017 at 10:46 am Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the scene of a single vehicle fatal collision on Highway 401 (Brookdale Avenue – off Ramp), South Stormont Township.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that a Toyota Sienna Van travelling east on Highway 401 left the roadway from the Brookdale off ramp causing the car to rollover and come to rest in the median.

The adult female (69) of Scarborough, Ontario a passenger of the van was transported to the hospital and has since died.

An adult male (73) driver of Scarborough, Ontario was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin.

Highway 401 Eastbound on and off ramps at Brookdale Avenue are closed to traffic.

The SD&G OPP officers and OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) and an OPP Reconstructionist are assisting in the investigation.
