Car crashes into another vehicle after evading R.I.D.E. stop in Pickering

A 27-year-old Ajax man collided with a second vehicle and suffered minor injuries after attempting to evade a R.I.D.E. stop in Pickering early this morning.

On Thursday July 20, 2017, at approximately 3 a.m., a vehicle was stopped by an officer conducting a R.I.D.E. stop at Dillingham Road and Brock Road. After speaking with the driver, the officer advised him to pull over.

The driver was observed speeding away from the R.I.D.E. stop and ran two red lights before colliding with a second vehicle near the 401. Officers arrived and located the male hiding in the grass nearby. He was arrested and taken to hospital as a result of injuries from the crash. The driver of the second vehicle was not hurt.

Kayron GRANT, age 27, of Monarch Avenue in Ajax is charged with: Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Fail to Provide Breath Sample; Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident and Drive Disqualified.
