Impaired transport truck driver charged after getting stuck in ditch

Your Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 36-year-old Caledon man with Impaired Driving after police were contacted by a witness regarding a transport truck stuck in a ditch on Stewart Court Tuesday morning.

On Tuesday, July 25 2017, at approximately 9:45a.m., police received a call to attend a business on Stewart Court. A tractor and trailer (transport truck) was attempting to line up to access a loading dock and in doing so the driver drove the tractor into a ditch at the end of the property. The driver attempted to remove the vehicle from the ditch but was unable to do so. Police were called when a witness suspected that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.

As a result of the police investigation, Jobanjot Singh Dhaliwal, 36, of Caledon, was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Operating a Motor Vehicle with More Than 80 Milligrams of Alcohol in 100 Millilitres of Blood, Breach of an Undertaking and Breach of Probation.

The accused man’s driver’s licence was suspended for a mandatory 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for a mandatory 7 days. The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing regarding the allegations.
