(KAPUSKASING, ON) – On July 7, 2017, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Kapuskasing officers of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offence on Highway 11 near the village of Moonbeam.
Police investigation revealed that the male driver was in possession of controlled substances.
Police seized Cannabis Marijuana and Cannabis Resin which had a total estimated street value of $36000 as well as drug paraphernalia and $390 in Canadian Currency.
Guy LABRECQUE, 21, of Kapuskasing, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Under 3kg – Cannabis Marijuana contrary to section 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
- Possession of a Schedule II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cannabis Resin – Over 1 gram contrary to section 5(2) CDSA
- Race Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario (HTA)
The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended and the motor vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Kapuskasing on August 28, 2017 to answer to the charges.
