On July 16, 2017, at approximately 1:09 am, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was on patrol in Bolton when he observed the driver of a blue 2008, Pontiac, failing to drive in a marked lane, which is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act.

When the officer made attempts to conduct a traffic stop with the motorist, the driver did not comply and instead attempted to flee from police in a dangerous manner. Subsequently, the driver struck a tree before exiting the vehicle and running away on foot.

As a result, Jason Paul TEIXEIRA, 36, of Bolton, was charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada: Unlawfully at Large, Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine, Fail to Comply with Probation Order (x 2), Obstruct Peace Officer, and Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer. The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act for: Fail to Remain, Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive at Unlawful Hour, Class G1 Licence Holder – Carry Front-Seat Passenger, and Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver.

A passenger within the vehicle, Natalie G SPIZZIRRI, 30, of Bolton was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine.
