(MATTAWA, ON) – On July 17, 2017, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are continuing to search for a missing person who was carried away by the current while swimming in the Ottawa River in Mattawa on July 15, 2017. The area where the male entered the water is described as having very strong current, varying depths and not suitable for swimming.
The missing male has been identified as Arthur LAVOIE 40, of Mattawa Ontario.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU), North Bay Detachment Marine Unit and the OPP’s Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) are still on scene and actively searching the area.
