Oshawa man fights back against home invaders with bear spray

Two suspects were arrested after they attempted to forcibly enter an apartment on Wentworth Street in Oshawa Saturday night.

On Saturday, July 8, 2017, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers from Central East Division were called to an apartment on Wentworth Street East in Oshawa. The victim was in the residence when three male suspects tried to gain access. During the altercation, bear spray was deployed at the three suspects by the resident. The suspects fled on foot and two males were later arrested.

Numerous tenants in the apartment building were evacuated until the hallways were ventilated by the Oshawa Fire Department. Several parties were affected by the spray, but no one sustained any injuries.

Elijah CAMERON, age 19, and a 17-year-old young person, both from Oshawa, were charged with Break and Enter with Intent to Commit. They were both released on a promise to appear.

Police continue to look for the third suspect, a 17-year-old male from Oshawa.
