(Ottawa)–In late May 2017, an officer in the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) initiated a proactive investigation on “Chatstep”. “Chatstep” is a web based disposable chat room.
The IP address associated to the uploads of prepubescent Child Pornography Images resolved to an address in the Ottawa area.
A joint investigation with the Ottawa Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) resulted in the execution of a Criminal Code search warrant today at a residence in the West end.
Beau BREAKEY, 49 years old, of Ottawa is charged with:
- 2 counts of Possession Child Pornography s. 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code
- 4 counts of Make Available Child Pornography s. 163.1(3) of the Criminal Code
Additional charges are expected to be laid pending the full examination of digital devices seized.
BREAKEY will appear at show cause court on July 7, 2017.
