While the police investigation into the circumstances is ongoing, it is believed that speed was a factor in this collision. The 17-year-old male rider died as a result of his injuries. Ridout Street has re-opened in both directions.
On Monday, July 17, 2017, at approximately 1:40 am emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision that had occurred on Ridout Street.
The collision involved a single motorcycle that struck a pole. The lone occupant, an adult male was transported to the hospital with life threatening injures and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing and as a result, Ridout Street will be closed between Elmwood Avenue and Craig Street.
The Traffic Management Unit has assumed carriage of the investigation.
