Two Lindsay men face cocaine trafficking charges

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) –  Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment and the OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) have arrested and charged two persons after a vehicle stop on Highway 35, near Gray Road, on July 14, 2017.

At approximately 8 pm on July 14, 2017 the occupants of a vehicle were arrested and charged as a result of an on-going investigation. Charged with the following offences are:

  • Daniel SHEDDEN, 32 years of age, of Lindsay:
  • Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Cocaine contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)

Jemaine BEALS, 40 years of age, of Lindsay:

  • Traffick in Schedule I Substance – Cocaine contrary to section 5(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CCC) (three counts)

Approximately $6000 worth of cocaine was seized during the traffic stop.

The accused parties were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay.
