Early in the afternoon of July 27th, members of the High Enforcement Action Team (HEAT) were patrolling the downtown core of the city on bikes when they went to speak to two males that were seen coming out of a Macdonell building where they did not reside. When the males saw officers coming towards them, both fled on bikes they were riding. After a short chase, the first male was caught and found in possession of a pellet gun that was a replica of a real handgun, a conductive energy weapon (commonly referred to as a taser) and a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine.

The second male was located a short time later and he too was found in possession of a pellet gun that was a replica of a real handgun.

The first male, 18 years of age from Guelph, was charged a total of 13 charges that include weapons, drug and breach of probation offences.

The second male is 29 years of age from Guelph,  charged with carrying a concealed weapon, obstruct police and two counts of breach of probation.

Both males were held in custody and will appear in bail court today.
