UPDATE: 21-year-old man has died following serious crash east of Simcoe


(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a serious motor vehicle collision at a Blueline Road, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, July 8, 2017 at approximately 4:14 p.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services and Paramedics responded to a single motor vehicle collision.

Through the course of investigation, it was determined that a red Volkswagen motor vehicle being operated by a 21-year-old male of Norfolk County, Ontario was travelling southbound on Blueline Road when the driver entered the northbound lane. The vehicle then left the roadway and entered the east ditch and collided with a tree.

As a result of the collision, 21-year-old Miles Frederick CALEY of Norfolk County, Ontario suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital by paramedics where he was then air lifted by Ornge air ambulance to a Hamilton hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Technical Collision Investigators assisted with the investigation.

Blueline Road was closed between Concession 11 and Concession 12 of Townsend for approximately five (5) hours to allow for investigation.
