UPDATE: Two men in custody following home invasion and shooting in Hamilton’s east end


Late this morning Hamilton Police executed a search warrant on an Avondale St address and located a firearm that is suspected in the shooting that occurred at that address late yesterday evening.

Also, the victim of the shooting is still in hospital; however charges will be filed on the – 24-year-old Hamilton man for Break and Enter with Intent


Police investigate a home invasion and shooting in the east end

On July 6th, 2017 Hamilton Police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on Avondale St.in the east end of the City.

Shortly before 10:30 p.m. Police responded for a home invasion and upon arrival, a male from the residence exited the house with his hands in the air stating “I’m the shooter” He was placed under arrest without incident.

Officers who were at a local hospital for an unrelated matter observed a male enter emergency stating to staff that he had been shot. The male was questioned by police and it was discovered that this male was, in fact, the victim who was shot at the Avondale address attempting to break in.

CHARGED: 65-year-old man from Hamilton

CHARGES: Aggravated Assault, Discharge Firearm with Intent, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon

Under Arrest: 24-year-old man from Hamilton

CHARGES: Pending
