(PETROLIA, ON)- On July 16, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. the Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) had occasion to investigate a substantial mischief that had occurred to a large events tent that had been erected within a park commonly known as the “flats” near Petrolia Ln and England Street, Town of Petrolia.
The investigation revealed that between July 15, 10:00 p.m. and July 16, 9:30 a.m. unknown suspects had used a sharp blade/knife to make several cuts to the tent panels. A total of 12 panels were destroyed. It is estimated that the cost to repair this damage will be close to $20,000. The vandals didn’t stop there. They proceeded to toss around 150 folding chairs that had been set up and organized for an event scheduled for the following day.
Currently, the Lambton Crime Unit and Scenes of Crime Officers are involved with this investigation.
