Between January, 2017 and June, 2017, the Waterloo Regional Police Cybercrime Branch – Internet Child Exploitation Unit investigated complaints from the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) regarding a male on social media who was in possession of and making available child pornography.
On August 2, 2017, as a result of the investigation, Waterloo Regional Police Service executed a search warrant at a Waterloo residence and arrested a 32-year-old male for possession of child pornography and four counts of make available child pornography.
Police seized computer equipment from the residence as a result of the search warrant. The Waterloo Regional Police Service is a member of the Ontario Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet.
This Project has been made possible by a grant from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services.
