(SEYMOUR TWP, ON) -On August 29, 2017, the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a resort on Coles Point Road in Seymour Township within the Municipality of Trent Hills.
Officers located a female victim at a seasonal residence who was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. A 72-year-old male was arrested at the scene and was also transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. He was later discharged and remained in custody until his appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg today.
Terrance George ELSOM of Trent Hills, Ontario is charged with Attempt to Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault and remains in custody at the time of this release.
This ongoing investigation is being conducted by detectives from the Northumberland Crime Unit, under the direction of Detective Staff Sergeant Paul Rosato of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
Investigators advise that there are no public safety concerns.
