The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a series of retail Robbery investigations. Nine businesses were involved (seven in Toronto and two in York Region).

It is alleged that:

  • on Friday, July 28, 2017, at 5:49 p.m., a man entered a jewelry store at Jane Street and Finch Avenue West
  • he displayed a black handgun, jumped over the counter, and took a quantity of gold chains before fleeing

It is further alleged that:

On Monday, July 31, 2017, members of TPS Hold Up started an investigation on a Person of Interest who had been arrested by OPP for an unrelated matter.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Dennis James, 23, was arrested. He has been charged with:

1) 11 counts of Robbery while Armed
2) two counts of Possession of Property
3) Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
4)Fail to Remain

He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, 10 a.m., room 206.
