UPDATE: Following a lengthy investigation utilizing the resources of many officers throughout the Region the accused was arrested and subsequently charged. The accused person Christian LAMONTAGNE (21 February 1976) of Milton was held for a bail hearing.

Police are asking for the assistance of the public if they are potentially a witness to this incident to call the investigative team. If you saw the suspect or observed the vehicle, confirmed to be a dark blue 2006 Acura CSX, on the date and time in question please call Detective Constable Quince Buchanan at 905-265-8768.

ORIGINAL POST:

On August 25th 2017 at approximately 8:15 pm a male suspect attempted to abduct a child at McDougall Park in the area of McDougall Crossing and Ware Crescent,  Town of Milton.

The suspect grabbed a young child by his arm and attempted to take him to a nearby black coloured, older model Honda. The suspect released the child and fled to the vehicle which left the area quickly, heading towards Savoline Boulevard. It is possible there were additional passengers in the vehicle. Halton Regional Police continued to search the area and subsequently located the car parked at a Milton residence. One person is in custody in relation to this occurrence, however the investigation is on-going.
