Boat crash on Gold Lake leaves Cambridge man in serious condition

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist after a boat ran aground on Gold Lake shortly before 1:30pm Saturday afternoon.

Witnesses describe the vessel traveling at high speed before losing control and colliding with the shoreline.

A 27-year-old man from Cambridge, Ontario received serious life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The vessel operator was transported to a Kingston area trauma centre by Ornge Air Ambulance and remains in serious condition.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision.
