On Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at around 10:30 a.m. Community Patrol Officers attended a Brantford address regarding a report of a domestic assault.

A Brantford woman contacted police to report that she had been assaulted by her husband. The victim advised that her husband had since left the family home. Investigation revealed that on the evening before the couple were involved in a heated argument where the accused had pushed the victim into a wall. On the morning of August 29, 2017 another physical confrontation took place where the accused threatened and punched the victim in the throat. The victim attempted to leave the family home and was prevented from doing so by the accused. The accused eventually left the residence.

Information was received that the accused had attended a Hamilton address. The BPS contacted Hamilton P.S. and requested assistance from their service regarding this domestic incident. Hamilton P.S attended the address provided by BPS and the accused was arrested without incident by Hamilton P.S. BPS attended Hamilton and escorted the accused to our service. The victim received nonlife threatening injuries as a result of the assault.

The accused a 45 year old Brantford man is charged with the following offences; Assault X2, Uttering Threats and Forcible Confinement. The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
