(SOUTH-WEST OXFORD TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 401 in South-West Oxford Township, Oxford County.

On Friday, August 18, 2017 at approximately 5:28 p.m. OPP were called to the collision on Highway 401 westbound just west of Foldens Line. A motorcycle was travelling westbound on Highway 401 when it struck the rear of a Toyota car which was stopped in the middle lane also westbound. The driver of the motorcycle was ejected. The initial collision caused a chain reaction where three other vehicles also stopped ahead of the Toyota car was rear-ended.

The female driver of the motorcycle was transported to area hospital by Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), where she was later pronounced deceased. The other involved drivers received minor injuries.

The deceased female driver of the motorcycle has been identified as Sandra MIONE-KENT, 64-years-of-age of Beamsville, ON.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
