(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfrolk County Detachment is currently investigating a motor vehicle collision at a Highway 24, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at approximately 6:10 p.m., OPP, Norfolk County Fire and Rescue Services and Paramedics responded to a collision involving four vehicles.
As a result of the collision, one of the drivers was ejected and suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two other drivers and a passenger were transported to a local area hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. A fourth driver sustained minor injuries.
Investigators are in the early stages of the investigation and will provide an update once further information becomes available.
Technical Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.
Identity of the deceased’s is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Haldimand-Norfolk Victim Services are currently in attendance.
Highway 24 is closed between Windham Road 7 and Concession 8 of Townsend. It is anticipated that the roadway will remain closed for the next 8 hours to allow for further investigation.
