Four arrested after stolen gun found in stolen car

Four people are facing charges after a vehicle stolen from Toronto was located in Niagara Falls with a stolen restricted firearm and a prohibited device inside.

At approximately 2:14am Wednesday August 9, 2017, Niagara Regional Police Services Uniform officers observed a vehicle in the parking lot of an establishment on Lundy’s Lane in the City of Niagara Falls.  Initial investigation determined it had been stolen from the Toronto area on August 8th, 2017. 

As officers approached the vehicle, four men and one woman exited the car and attempted to walk away; three of the males and a female were arrested a short distance from the vehicle and taken to 2 District Holding Cells for processing. A fourth male fled on foot. 

An investigation by the 2 District Niagara Falls Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) has resulted in the following charges:

Mohamed SALAD (27 yrs. – male) of Toronto is charged with the alleged offences of:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Prohibited Device
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

Faysal OMAR (20 yrs. male) of Etobicoke is charged with the alleged offences of:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Prohibited Device
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

Idil HASSAN (25 YRS. female) of North York is charged with the alleged offences of:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Prohibited Device
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 

A 17 year old male* from the City of Toronto is charged with the alleged offences of:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession Is Unauthorized
Possession of a Prohibited Device Knowing its Possession Is Unauthorized
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

*The 17 year old male cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The suspects are being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday August 9, 2017 at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.

Police continue to search for a fifth suspect who remains at large.
