Between the months of June through August 2017, multiple school bus yards in the city of Hamilton were targeted for theft. The suspect entered fenced compounds and removed bus batteries from the fleet of school buses. Further investigation identified the suspect was also targeting commercial bus lines throughout the golden horseshoe.

The Hamilton Police BEAR unit continued their investigation and on August 16th, 2017 Peter ELDERTON (44 years old from Hamilton) was arrested and charged with multiple counts of break and enter. He was held for bail and later released by the courts.  

CRIMINAL CHARGES:

Four counts of Break and Enter
Four counts of Theft Under $5000
Four counts of Trafficking in stolen property 

Police continue to work with external agencies to investigate similar fact break and enter incidents that occurred out of town.
