Two officers from West Division suffered minor injuries during the arrest of a distraught male in Ajax.

On Sunday, August 6, 2017, at approximately 1:45 p.m., members of West Division were called to a residence on Williamson Drive in Ajax for complaints of a male committing an indecent act. Police attended the residence and during their investigation identified the suspect to be responsible for another indecent act on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at a pharmacy on Salem Road in Ajax.

Police attempted to arrest the male, who struck one of the officers and continued to resist. The suspect attempted to disarm one of the officers, but he was eventually taken into custody. During the arrest, a family member intervened and assaulted one of the officers as well. The officers sustained minor injuries.

A 24-year-old male from Ajax, was charged with: Assault With Intent to Resist; Assault a Peace Officer; Take Weapon of a Peace Officer/Execution of Duty; Indecent Act in a Public Place x2 and Fail To Comply with Probation Order x4. He was taken to hospital for assessment and will be held for a bail hearing.

A 56-year-old female from Ajax, was charged with: Assault a Peace Officer and Obstruct Peace Officer. She was released on a promise to appear.
