Police arrested three males after an armed street level robbery in Oshawa early this morning.

On Monday, August 14, 2017, at approximately 2:10 a.m., officers were called to a plaza at Rossland Road and Wilson Road for reports of an armed person.

A male victim arranged to meet the seller of a video gaming system at the plaza to make the purchase. During the transaction, the victim was approached by two additional males and one of them produced a knife. They demanded the victim’s property and cash but he refused and fled the area. He was not physically harmed during the incident.

Investigators believe the seller of the video game system was working with the two suspects. All three were arrested and charged short time later.

Youssef BUTTU, age 18 of Thickson Road in Whitby, a 17-year-old male and 16-year-old male both from Oshawa are charged with: Robbery With an Offensive Weapon; Conspiracy to Commit an Indictable Offence and Possess Weapon For Committing an Offence. All three were held for bail hearings. Two of the males cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
