A 24 year old man has been arrested and charged with several offences, including committing an Indecent Act.  This arrest on Thursday afternoon was as a result of two separate 911 calls to police reporting a man masturbating on the walking trail of the “Hungry Hollow” ravine in Georgetown.

Police were initially responding to a 911 call from a woman reporting that a half-naked male was performing an indecent act upon himself while shouting over to her and attempting to entice her into a wooded area.  While searching for the culprit, officers were alerted by another woman trying to call 911 to report a man performing an indecent act upon himself in plain view on a bench in the same vicinity.  Officers, including K9, found the male moments later while still performing an indecent act in plain public view.

After being transported to 12 Division in Milton, the culprit was interviewed by Detectives.  During the interview the culprit admitted to the indecent acts as well as other historical acts in and around the same area.

Although the Georgetown trail system is generally very safe, police would like to remind the public that precautions should be taken if walking or jogging in these secluded areas.  People should be cognizant that when down in the ravine area they could encounter wildlife that they wouldn’t normally expect (i.e.: coyotes), could sustain an injury or in very rare cases come across criminal activity.  Cell phone coverage may be sporadic and calls to 9-1-1 could be difficult.  Police recommend trail users take a cell phone with them, walk with a friend or partner and let others know where you will be.  If alone, always be aware of your surroundings and be careful of when you use earphones that could impede your sense of danger.

Charged with 2 counts of Committing Indecent Act, 3 counts of Breaching Probation, 1 count of Breaching Prohibition Order and 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marihuana) is Connor James SPRAYSON, age 24, of Brampton.
