Man vaults counter at Barrie convenience store to steal cigarettes

On August 11 at approximately 1030 pm a lone male entered a Mac’s convenience store on Bayfield Street.

He vaulted the counter and began removing packages of cigarettes from their bins.

The suspect was confronted by a store employee and a brief struggle ensued before he fled the store and Police were called.

Multiple Officers attended the area and the suspect was located a short distance away.

The suspect attempted to flee from Police however he was arrested after a short foot pursuit and he continued to be combative with Officers.

Cigarette packages that were taken from the store were located on his person.

The 20 year old male of no fixed address was transported to the Barrie Police station and held pending a bail hearing.

No injuries were sustained by the store employee.
