The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) announces that it has arrested a man in connection with a robbery and crime spree in the Town of Oakville.
On July 11, 2017, at 2:27 a.m., a lone male entered the Petro Canada gas station located at 350 Iroquois Shore Road and stole three trays of lottery tickets from an employee. No weapon was seen and the employee was not injured.
On July 25, 2017, at 8:30 p.m., the HRPS responded to a shoplifting incident at the Home Depot located at 99 Cross Avenue. A male was arrested. In addition to the stolen property, he was found to be in possession of several lottery tickets. As a result, the male was identified as a person of interest in the July 11 gas station robbery.
On August 9, 2017, officers executed a Criminal Code search warrant at the male’s Oakville residence. Further evidence linking him to the Petro Canada robbery was seized.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the male was also responsible for stealing a quantity of perfume from the Shoppers Drug Mart located at 550 Kerr Street on July 8, 2017.
Yjan RAAE, 24, of Oakville, was held for bail and charged with the following offences in relation to the series of incidents:
• Disguise with Intent
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
• Failure to Comply with Recognizance
• Theft Under $5000
