The Peterborough Police Service has charged two teens with fraud following an investigation.

On July 20, 2017, police received a complaint regarding numerous unauthorized withdrawals that had been made to the victim’s bank account in June and July of 2017. The total value of the fraud is approximately $2,860.

Through the investigation two suspects were identified, the victim’s 15-year-old granddaughter and the granddaughter’s 15-year-old boyfriend.

On August 16, 2017, police attended a Peterborough residence where, as a result of the investigation, the two youth were placed under arrest and charged with fraud under $5,000.

Both youths were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court on September 11, 2017.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act the name of a young person cannot be released.
