Pickup truck crosses center line and strikes 3 motorcycles on Hwy 7 east of Havelock

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews are currently on the scene of a serious collision on Highway 7 east of the Village of Havelock which occurred shortly before 1:00 pm Saturday, August 19, 2017.

A group of 7 motorcycles was traveling eastbound on Highway 7, near Weller Road. The head-on collision occurred when a westbound pickup truck crossed the center line struck 3 of the bikes.

Five people have been taken to area hospitals with varying degrees of injuries. At least 2 of the persons have serious life-threatening/life-altering injuries.

Highway 7 was closed east of the Village of Havelock while members trained in Collision Reconstruction measure and document the scene. The Highway 7 road block remained in place for several hours while police investigated.
