Officers from East Division seized two vehicles after two drivers were charged with travelling at excessive speeds in Courtice overnight.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at approximately 2:00 a.m., members of East Division were monitoring traffic when they observed two vehicles approaching them side by side at a very high rate of speed. The two vehicles were stopped by police.

The vehicles were clocked at more than double the speed limit on Highway 2 just east of Centerfield Drive road in Courtice. The vehicles were travelling at 149 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone.

Since these two drivers were exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/hr, they were charged under anti-street racing legislation. Stunt Driving is a serious charge that comes with a mandatory seven-day driver’s license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. Fines can go as high as $10,000 plus the court costs.

Terrrell CRAWLEY, age 26 of Oshawa and Bryan WRIGHT, age 30 of Courtice are both charged with Speeding and Stunt Driving. They were issued appearance notices for the offences.
