Sawed-off shotgun seized and 11 charges laid in armed robbery investigation


Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a retail Robbery investigation

It is alleged that:

  • on Sunday, August 7, 2017, at 10 p.m., a man entered a variety store at Kennedy Road and Eglinton Avenue East.
  • the man covered his face with a bandana and was armed with a handgun
  • the man ordered a 58-year-old woman, and a 35-year-old man to get on the floor
  • the man then jumped over the counter
  • the man proceeded to fill a duffel bag with a quantity of cigarettes
  • police were contacted and arrived as the man was fleeing
  • police pursued the man through a nearby apartment parking complex
  • police ordered the man out of the vehicle
  • he complied with their demands and was arrested
  • inside the vehicle, police recovered a sawed-off shotgun and ammunition
  • an imitation handgun and the duffle bag of cigarettes were also located

Eric Plourde, 24, of Toronto, was charged with:

1) Robbery while armed with a firearm
2) two counts of Point Firearm
3) Disguise with Intent
4) Careless Storage of a firearm
5) Careless Storage of ammunition
6) Use Imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence
7) Unauthorized possession of a firearm
8) Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
9) Fail to Comply
10) Possession of property obtained by Crime

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue West, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, 10 a.m.
